methysergide

methysergide
n.
a drug used to prevent severe migraine attacks and cluster headaches and to control diarrhoea associated with carcinoid syndrome. Taken by mouth, it is administered under supervision in hospital because it carries a risk of dangerous fibrotic reactions (see fibrosis); other, more common, side-effects are digestive upsets, dizziness, and drowsiness.
